The opening ceremony was addressed by He Lin,academic member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences & President of the EAUHG, along with Zhang Xue, the Dean of Genetics at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences who presided over the opening ceremony. Yang Baofeng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering & President of Harbin Medical University then presented his remarks at the opening ceremony. Other distinguished members in attendance of the opening ceremony included the Vice president of Harbin Medical University, Fu Songbin as well as Professor Chu Jiayou.
The main theme for this year’s conference was "From GWAS to Precision Medicine." Nine experts representing prestigious institutes from China, Japan and Korea presented their academic reports at these proceedings. Experts detailed advances in research related to the field of the whole genome, which included the genetic mapping of complex diseases in East Asia such as lung cancer, esophageal cancer, nervous system, Parkinson's disease, narcolepsy, paroxysmal movement disorders and others. In addition, there were lively discussions on new advances in the field of genome-precision between expert panels and participants.
The conference was hosted in collaboration by the Genetics Society of China and the Shanghai Medical Genetics Branch, and was organized by Key Laboratory of Medical Genetics, Harbin Medical University. Nearly one hundred delegates from China, Japan and South Korea attended the conference. The conference played a positive role to strengthen academic exchanges and foster cooperation in human genetics research within East Asia.
